Why Are Asian Women So Thin

The number one reason why Asian women are so thin is because of social demands placed on them by the media and the fashion industry. Youth and beauty is defined by having an underdeveloped body with seemingly childlike features. There are some genetics involved, too. Biology tells us that evidence of the earliest human-beings exhibited similar traits associated with neoteny. The word itself is seldom used to denote underdevelopment, or individuals who retain juvenile features clear into their adulthood. In modern vernacular we used derogatory expressions like pancake chest, flat bottom, flat as a board, skin and bones, and other more colorful and offensive expressions to denote a person who is underdeveloped and skinny.

Having no breast, no buttocks, and something not related called “Yaeba,” a Japanese word that means snaggletooth in English, is utterly destroying the natural beauty of Japanese women. Being thin and underfed is self-depriving and therefore works against the natural development of the body. Eating three square meals a day and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Apparel shops market the idea of cute and ‘forever 21’ to appeal to young women in their teens and twenties. The idea that by dressing like you are 21 years old you can be 21 years old again has been a marketing strategy for decades. It’s as if the media Barons of Tokyo and Shibuya are working right alongside the fashion industry to purposely promote young thin women as apposed to healthy young women. Having too much physical maturity is seen as un-Japanese. Their seems to be some sense of impurity associated with being and looking too mature.

Japanese women are inundated with images of thin women in fashion magazines, movies, and films. Often times these thin women are depicted as living the good life and appear to be happy and satisfied because of all the friends and lovers they appear to have. Young Japanese women set abnormally high expectations for themselves by experimenting with unhealthy diet fads that wind up doing more harm than good. When they go shopping they want to be able to fit into clothes that look cute, which are often times a 24-26 cm waist sizes. That is very small.

Manga is another reason why too. Often times caricatures are drawn with unnaturally small waste sizes. It doesn’t end there, Japanese men prefer dating thinner women, often times with juvenile features. Larger women feel isolated and under appreciated for their own natural beauty. This rejection of what’s natural has been eating away at society in Japan for decades, and has been one of the chief contributing factors in depression and suicide for many young women.

Emerging Cities In Fashion Scene

New York, Paris, London, Milan are known as the big names in fashion cities to see the best of fashion world has to offer. In these fashion capitals shadows are emerging cities that are frequently overlooked by the masses, enabling them to develop truly forward-thinking creativity in bustling art communities, and perhaps most notably, the freshest in fashion. We choose the three most promising cities for a sneak peek of whats to come in the world of fashion.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands:

Some have called it the “Venice of the North.” Amsterdam is known worldwide for its tolerance and liberalism. This beautiful city also reflects these qualities in its eclectic and creative fashion sense. Big scarves, stripes, leather booties, and bright accessories rule both the streets and the ever-popular boutiques dotting the Dams zig-zagging narrow lanes. In July and January, the city becomes the backdrop for its red-hot International Fashion Week, and the AMFI Amsterdam Fashion Institute fosters the freshest faces in the industry year-round.

Cape Town, South Africa:

Cape Town is Africas most progressive fashion city. Known for its multicultural population and gorgeous oceanfront landscape, it might be hard to focus your attention on just one visual pleasure, but a quick trip to one of the citys many boutiques is sure to distract you. Cropped trousers, full skirts, body-con, tiered dresses, pleats, drapes, sheer, chiffon and lace are ruling styles from Cape Town designers and fashionistas, making for an interesting interplay between conservative and sensual.

A benefit for many travelers in Cape Town is the favorable exchange rate and comparatively low production costs, so giving in to that to-die-for garment becomes that much easier. A capital of goldsmiths and jewelry makers as well as textile producers, look for high-quality leather goods and inexpensive, luxurious accessories. Greenmarket Square and the Cape Quarter are two places to start your shopping explorations, and mid-August is the time to catch Cape Town Fashion Week.

Bali, Indonesia:

Bustling and vibrant, the archipelago city, though known perhaps more for its gorgeous textile supply than groundbreaking design, local fashion thought is on the upswing. Maybe the best place to explore grassroots style is at one of the many open-air markets in the city, with colorful prints and breezy fabrics begging to be worn on Pacific-tanned bodies. Local style as of late has been centered on retro dresses, defined waistlines, relaxed-fit trousers and show-stealing peeptoe pumps. The citys fashion week has been suspended since last few years due to international economic troubles, but Bali is back in our list of fashion cities regardless of big fashion events speaks volumes.

So, whether you are planning a fashion trip around the globe or exploring the new fashion designers, keep in mind that the world of fashion goes well beyond the traditional hubs.

Women Professionals In The Automotive Industry

For the most part, the world of automotive careers remains dominated by men, but there are plenty of opportunities for women as well as reasons why the automotive field is a good place for women to be. Some sectors of the field are majority women, but even outside this range, cars could simply use more females in the garage, the saleroom floor and behind the wheel.

Dispatcher jobs are one of the few places currently dominated by women. Perhaps because switchboard and telephone operators have historically been women or because of a tendency for women to be pushed into social, customer service or people-focused jobs, its not uncommon for dispatcher courses to be full of women.

If women can dispatch vehicles, they can certainly drive them. There is no reason for truck driving or even sitting behind the wheel of a limo to be a male dominated field other than custom. Critics of females in roles like taxi driver point to the risks inherent in working at all hours with strangers, but women already do that in a plethora of jobs from healthcare to food service. Additionally, for women who worry about safety, a female cab driver may even be seen as a positive thing.

On the other hand, cars have increasingly, at least from an owners side, stopped being a male world. The majority of car owners are now women by a small margin, mostly necessitated by the fact that women as well as men work and require transportation. For many purposes male and female car needs are equivalent, though female car buyers favour smaller and more fuel efficient models.

One of the challenges faced by female car buyers is the occasionally accurate perception that they are not taken as seriously and with car prices being partially negotiable, face higher car prices than men. For women looking for an auto career this presents an easy opportunity to go into sales. Since the field is currently male dominated, female auto sales college grads can sell themselves as the more women friendly option to what will be over fifty percent of their client base.

Additionally, garages are starting to open up to women. Long labeled the bastion of he-man misogyny, no professional garage resembled the chauvinistic stereotype anymore. As with the sales floor, female car owners still need to get their cars serviced and sometimes feel like theyre not sure if they can trust their technician. Automotive mechanic training it open to anyone any you may even be able to get special grants for females in trades to help fund your education.

Regardless of what you pick, if youre a woman, theres never been a better time than now to enter the field.

Fashion tips for stylish plus sized women

If you are a plus sized woman, you will often wonder which dress will be ideal for you. Actually, you will tend you look fat in everything you wear. Eventually, you will start feeling embarrassed about your appearance. However, fashion experts suggest that wise dressing makes a fat woman look slimmer! Now if you are feeling interest about the tips, start reading further.

Stop wearing loose fitted garments

You should never think of wearing a loose fitted dress if you are bulky. Loose fitted dresses will add further to your body weight and you will look even fatter. Therefore, resist your temptation even if you find that some loose fitted designer dresses are being offered at discounted rates.

Wear prints cautiously

You are not entitled to wear bold prints if you have a heavy built. Huge prints will make you appear bulkier. No matter how beautiful they are, you must never think of wearing Jovani dresses or other designer labels that have animal prints on them. However, you are free to select designer apparels like Pageant dresses that have solid colors. But if you are obsessed about prints then you can try out tiny floral prints.

Lycra is not your fabric

A number of fashion apparels come in Lycra based material. However, they should not be your pick if you are a plus sized woman. Since the elastic attribute of the dress will tend to hug onto your torso, you will look fatter in Lycra based garments. Fabrics that have natural drape are ideal for you.

Skinny jeans should be welcomed

Skinny jeans that look like your second skin will be perfect for you. Since they cling onto your body, you will not look heavier than your actual built. In addition, the thickness of jeans fabric will ensure that it does not hug onto your body like Lycra and spandex. So, you will look visually thinner in skin fitted jeans trousers.

Broad belts for camouflaging

You do not have any restriction on wearing belts. However, remember that broad belts will serve you more in comparison to their thin counterparts. They will help in hiding the extra flab around your waist and make you appear slimmer.

Well tailored jackets

Shrugs and crochet jackets are not suitable for you if you have heavy built. However, you should not feel disheartened about it as a properly tailored fitted jacket is exclusively meant for big sized women. They visually cut down the extra flab in the upper torso and make you look thinner.

True fits are best

Your wardrobe should include garments that are neither too loose nor too tight. Medium-fitted garments will make you look slimmer.

Business classes will also help you learn to communicate with clients and sell your product to them more effectively.

While it seems easy initially, its far from that. You will still have to take basic classes as well as intense art classes to ensure that you understand the fundamentals of fabrics, colors, and more. Fashion design isnt just about making pretty clothes all day. It takes a great deal of skill and work to achieve the results that you want and what is demanded by the client and the world around you. Also, this type of school can become pretty expensive. Luckily for most, scholarships, grants, and loans, are all a possibility. These monetary benefits can help you pay for your tuition so that you can stay in school while working towards an awesome career in the fashion field.

Women’s Cardiovascular Health at Risk

The medical industry needs to do a better job of protecting the hearts of American women. One of the many health challenges women have had to deal with was the scam of Hormone Replacement Therapy. Marketed by pharmaceutical companies as a cure-all for aging, HRT also claimed to protect against heart disease. In 2002 it was revealed that not only was this claim false, but in fact HRT increased risk of heart disease. Women were tricked into using a product that caused the very thing it claimed to prevent.

Another blow to women’s heart health came when researchers at University of California, San Francisco discovered that many heart-related medical devices have not been adequately tested on women. Although women constitute just over 50% of the population, many devices are tested overwhelmingly on men before getting FDA approval.

After looking through 123 studies for 78 different high-risk medical devices that were approved by the FDA, researchers found significant gender bias. The devices looked at were all for cardiovascular health, including heart valves, implanted defibrillators, pacemakers and stents. Since heart disease is the number one cause of death among women in the US, it is important that these devices perform safely and effectively on women as well as men.

28% of the studies analyzed made no mention of gender. Men constituted 67% of the participants in the other studies. Due to differences in bleeding tendencies and size, men and women may have different reactions or side effects with these devices. “We do not know if a lot of medical devices currently on the market are as safe and effective in women as they are in men,” researcher Dr. Rita Redberg said.

The results from their analysis should be surprising given that in 1994, the FDA released a mandate that manufacturers issue a gender-bias statement with each new product application, guaranteeing that the devices were tested in appropriate proportions of men and women. However, under half of the studies reviewed included that required statement. Of those that did, 26% actually showed sex-linked differences in safety and effectiveness.

Since the 1980s, women’s health groups have been advocating for closer analysis of medication and medical devices and their effects on women. Men have been given preference as test subjects because they lack some of the hormonal variables that make women more “challenging.” This is an unacceptable excuse for sexist practices that endanger women. They deserve the same assurance that approved medical devices and equipment will be safe and effective when used on them, and the FDA needs to crack down and make this happen.
